What is the EASM Summer School

The EASM Summer School is a great opportunity for students and practitioners to enrich their degree with new insights in the field of International Sport Management Industry, Business and Marketing, among others. Participants will have the chance to build up their own international network within the sport business and to work with colleagues from all over the world.

  • Attendants get a 6 ECTS certificate recognized by the University of Bayreuth after the Final Exam.

Richart VAUGHAN

Title Entrepreneurship: From a Molecule to an Empire

Bio: Richard Vaughan is an English teacher, American businessman, and composer-musician, creator of radio and television programs that serve as educational media and bring together more than 2.5 million of people between listeners and spectators. He is also the president and CEO of Vaughan Systems, a language teaching company known for successfully designing and implementing innovative language teaching methods and programs in Spain.

IYÁN IVÁN BARAGAÑO – UNIVERSIDAD EUROPEA

Title: The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Sports Management: From Predictive Algorithms to Generative AI

Bio: Iyán holds a PhD in Sports Science from the University of A Coruña (Extraordinary Doctorate Prize) and a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence from the European University of Madrid. He is a researcher with the Sport Management European Research Group and a lecturer at the European University of Madrid, teaching courses in Statistics, Data Analysis, and Big Data for Sports Management. His research focuses on machine learning applications in sports data management, customer segmentation, and team sports performance analysis. Iyán   has published over 25 articles, presented at over 20 conferences, and was an invited speaker at events in Guatemala and China. Additionally, he/she has led research projects funded by the Spanish Government and worked on an AI innovation project for sports events.

JAVIER ESCUDERO –  COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR AT ATOS MAJOR EVENTS

Title: Digital Transformation in a multisport Event

Bio: Javier has over 15+ years of international experience in the sport business administration industry, having actively participated in the most important multisport games around the globe including Olympics, Pan American Games, European Games, Commonwealth Games or Asian Games among others.

He joined Atos in 2009 and the commercial team since 2013, since then he has led the commercial relations with TIER 1 sports properties such as the International Olympic committee, the UEFA, the European Olympic committees, the European tour, AELTC (Wimbledon) or Special Olympics where he became Atos ambassador for this well-known organization in 2022.

Javier received an Executive Education program in Digital Marketing from Instituto de Empresa (IE) and currently he is Global commercial director and Executive Committee Member of Atos Sports and Major Events.

RUTH CRABTREE – SHEFFIELD UNIVERSITY

Title: The art of change management – the human side of sport management

Bio: Dr Ruth M Crabtree – is an internationally recognised expert in the discipline of sport management and specifically the areas of learning and teaching excellence.  Ruth is currently the President of the World Association of Sport Management and a board member of the International Council for Sport Science & Physical Education, as well as the Chartered Institute of the Management of Sport & Physical Activity.  At the forefront of all her work, is an understanding to learn from multi-cultural approaches to strategic management that enhances the industry and develops people.  Ruth is Head of the School of Sport & Physical Activity at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK and is currently working with international postgraduate students on a live consultancy project with the International Olympic Committee and the World Health Organisation. 

ROBERT KOK – FONTYS UNIVERSITY

Title: Value co-creation through fan communication

Bio: Robert Kok (57), senior lecturer at the SPECO (Sportscommunication) department of Fontys University for Applied Science Tilburg the Netherlands. Fields of interest and research; sportsmarketing, sporstssponsorship, fan engagement and Athlete branding. Worked in the past for a Sportsmarketing agency. CARLA BLAKEY –  UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA

Title: Name, Image and Likeness (NIL): The New Era of Amateurism in the U.S.

Bio: Carla Blakey, PhD in the Undergraduate Program Coordinator and an Assistant Professor in the Sport Management Program at The University of Alabama. As coordinator, she leads undergraduate team efforts in industry relations, experiential learning, and student internships. Prior to her academic career, she worked for nearly a decade in sports marketing and sponsorship sales (the University of Arkansas and Louisiana State University). Dr. Blakey is a proud alumna of The University of Alabama, earning both her Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences (Sports Business Management) and Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Instructional Technology).  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (Advertising and Public Relations) from the University of Arkansas.

JOSÉ MARÍA GOTOR – LALIGA

Title: LALIGA as a Global Player
Bio: Jose María Gotor is a seasoned executive who has spent 6 years at CAF and is now making waves as the Head of International at LaLiga Business School. He is currently the Head of International at LaLiga Business School, where he is responsible for developing and managing the LaLiga 360º strategy in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos. With his wealth of experience, he has been instrumental in driving LaLiga’s global expansion and bringing the brand to new markets around the world.

HÉCTOR CORONEL –  MADRID CITY COUNCIL

Title: Development of Sport Event in Madrid
Bio: Héctor Coronel holds a bachelor in tourism management from Rey Juan Carlos University and has completed his training with various postgraduate courses, such as the Executive Program in Hospitality Operations and People Management, and specialization courses in marketing of brands and products of luxury, quality management in companies and tourist destinations, digital marketing and social media strategy. He has experience in the organization of events and projects related to sports tourism. In addition, he has directed the MBA in Hospitality and Tourism at the Ostelea Tourism Management School for 4 years, teaching sessions in several of its programs, as well as at the URJC and UEM. He is also the founder and promoter of tourism development projects aimed at improving the traveler experience. With more than 25 years of experience in the tourism industry as a leader of multidisciplinary teams in multinationals in the sector, he is specialized in tourism marketing and in the luxury tourism segment. His professional career in the tourism sector includes NH Hotels, Menzies Hotels (UK), Condor Vacaciones tour operator and for more than 16 years he held various positions of responsibility in marketing, sales, revenue management and operations at Meliá Hotels International. He has worked for the Portuguese chain Pestana Hotel Group to open its hotels Pestana Plaza Mayor and CR7 Gran Vía, until his appointment in 2020 as director of tourism for Madrid City Council.

AILA AHONEN – JAMK UNIVERSITY, EASM REPRESENTANTIVE

Title: Introducing EASM

Bio: Aila Ahonen currently works at the Sport Business School, JAMK University of Applied Sciences. Aila does research in Sports events, Sport Entrepreneurship and Sport management teaching.
